I am a huge advocate of using mirrors in spaces … any space at all.
Both businesses and homes can benefit from using mirrors in their spaces. Not only can they make a space feel larger than it actually is, they can draw in more light, make the space feel more open and fill up a large empty space on a wall. They are always pretty handy to have around!
Let’s talk about some current mirror trends I’ve had my eyes on. There are a few that I cannot get enough of. They are so simple yet so gorgeous in these spaces.
1. Geometric
Geometric décor is still a super hot item right now. Of course, we have all seen the standard square, circle and even several octagon mirrors that pop up in my search from time to time. So naturally, when I saw this image, my heart fluttered a bit.
How perfect is this triangle-shaped mirror in this space. It’s super simple, yet it makes a huge impact. The wooden texture of the frame is timeless, and I think it is utterly gorgeous.
2. Floor
I want to say that having a floor mirror is a must. It is a piece that you can, and probably will, hang on to for a lifetime, whether you bought it yourself or it was handed down to you.
Floor mirrors have pros that outweigh their cons. Sure, they are big, but a floor mirror will be something you use daily and can cover a large area when you are decorating your space.
And if you have a floor mirror but aren’t that crazy about the frame, just update it! A little paint will go a long way!
3. Two-Toned
Speaking of paint, instead of painting the entire frame’s front and side, leave the frame in a wood finish. Update it if it’s in bad shape with a solid coat of paint or just clean it up and repurpose it. There is always a great story to tell with vintage pieces!
4. Vintage
I don’t know very many people who don’t love a gorgeous antique mirror. I can’t think of one time that I haven’t passed by one without giving it a second look. Antique mirrors have so much character and are built really well.
For larger antique mirrors, you can lean them up against the wall, allowing them to be the topic of conversations. Small vintage mirrors can be hung on the wall to draw in your house guests!
5. Circle
This has been my go-to mirror option for months. I’m digging the modernist feel of it, and the wood tones in the space around make it blend well and not be too over-the-edge modern. I absolutely love a round mirror of this size for an entryway, over a dresser or dressing table in a bedroom, above a buffet in a dining room or over a vanity in a bathroom.
Simple. Elegant. Timeless.
