The kitchen is easily the most-used room in the house. Our kitchen just so happens to be on the smaller side and isn’t packed full of storage. But since it’s such a gathering place for guests, you still want it to look nice, right? Today I’m going to share with you some tips on adding a little extra storage to the top of your fridge — and making it look incredible!
Take Off the Cabinet Doors
We decided to take the doors off of the cabinets above our fridge. Even in a rental, don’t be afraid to remove those doors. With the doors on, you can barely open it, much less get anything up there. So let’s have some fun with it. Removing the doors really opens up the space and gives you more to play with. Just make sure you keep your doors intact and all the hardware to go with it. If you are worried about the holes, don’t be; just use your décor to cover it up and hide those holes!
Shop Your House
The top of the fridge is a place to have a little fun. Pull out some of your favorite pieces and display them! You can mix in some highly-used items and maybe even some pieces you hardly ever use. I use my measuring cup all the time, so I keep it right on the front edge so it’s always easily accessible.
Then I have a mortar and pestle that I hardly ever use, but it’s one of those things you won’t need until you don’t have it anymore. So I use it as decoration! That way it is serving more of a purpose than just taking up space! Better to have something you’ll eventually use than something you just buy to put on a shelf.
Rotate Décor With the Seasons
Changing decorations with the seasons is a good way to pull out some of your more seasonal items. During the fall, everyone tends to bake a little more, so display those rolling pins!
