Every year I tell myself that I will have all my holiday shopping finished before December hits. I have yet to meet that goal! Even the years when I get close, there are always those things that pop up unexpectedly. A work party? Maybe a get-together with some of your closest friends? Or perhaps your neighbor brings you over the sweetest gift ever and you totally forgot to pick something up last time you were at the store? No worries; today, I’ve got three simple DIY holiday gift ideas that are easy for you to have on hand and make quickly!
Sharpie Tea Towels
These are so easy to make and can be customized for so many different occasions.
Supplies:
- White tea towels
- Sharpie
- Template (optional)
How to Make Sharpie Tea Towels
To make these, I just typed up the words in Photoshop — but you could totally use Microsoft Word — and printed them off on white paper. I then placed that paper under the tea towel and traced the letters with the Sharpie. The template is completely optional. If you want to freehand it or draw an actual picture, that would definitely work. I think it would be so sweet to handwrite a family recipe on one of the towels! So, stock up on a package of tea towels and have a few of them ready to go. Just tie a cute little ribbon around it, and call yourself prepared!
Wood-Burned Spoons
One of the absolute favorite things I have made for my kitchen are these wood-burned spoons. They make fantastic gifts for the holidays, a housewarming or a hostess. It might sound difficult to make, but you really only need one tool, and it is available at most craft stores. With a coupon, you can snatch it up for under $15, and it is so great to have on hand. I have made so many unique things with it.
Supplies:
- Wooden spoons
- Wood-burning tool
How to Make Wood-Burned Spoons
For these, I just wrote out different words on each of the handles of the wooden spoons with a pencil. I used that as a guide for the wood-burning tool. Don’t be scared of this tool. You do have to take precautions, as it gets very hot, but it is just like writing with a big marker!
Mason Jar Utensil Holder
To make this, you will need to first clean your Mason jar so the paint will adhere. I used chalkboard paint so I could rub chalk and get that “slate” look, but any color will work. Apply your painter’s tape to cover up the part of the jar you don’t want to paint, and then paint the visible part of the jar. Let dry, and you are done!
