Poutine, a traditional Canadian dish, is the epitome of comfort food! It’s traditionally made with French fries topped with gravy and cheese curds. I decided to put a little Cajun twist on my poutine! Why not? It’s perfect for Mardi Gras celebrations or year-round enjoyment.
If you’ve never made poutine or just learned about it today, you’re in for a treat. It’s a trifecta of the best flavors. I love the addition of spicy sausage for a little extra twist, though you can absolutely select a sausage that isn’t spicy if you prefer. Give it your own twist!
The soft cheese curds, crispy fries, and flavorful gravy make this the ultimate comfort food. Whether you’re inviting friends over to watch a game or just making a snack, these are actually quite easy to prepare.

If you’re inviting friends over and want to avoid having your apartment floor become a holding ground for poutine gravy, then prepare individual dishes of poutine! Pick up mini buckets or bowls and line them with newspaper (for easy cleanup). Add fries, gravy, curds and sausage to each container. This makes an easy “grab and go” for friends to enjoy while mixing and mingling or while enjoying a game or movie!
