Freshen Up Your Bedroom

Apartment Living

Get Fresh Bedroom organization tips
Every year, I reach this point when I feel like winter should be coming to an end, but it in fact has weeks more to go. And every year during this time, I can’t wait to open up my windows and let the fresh air blow in and give my house that fresh spring smell. I can dream about this all I want, but it just isn’t an option yet. So what’s a girl to do? Start going through my home and getting some organization in order so I can enjoy those open windows even more when the time comes!
Let’s talk bedrooms today. I don’t know about you, but in our house, my room seems to be the catch-all for everyone’s leftovers. If my kids ever think to themselves, “I don’t know what to do with this”, generally the answer they ultimately come to is, “I’ll just put it in Mom’s room”. Yeah, not real sure how that happened, but I am determined to have a comfortable, cozy and CLEAN master bedroom. When you don’t have a whole lot of space to work with, you just have to put your creative hat on! Here are some tips and ideas I use to help get started!
Make Your Bed Every Day
I feel kinda bad even mentioning this one because I’m terrible at it, but it really does make a HUGE difference when it comes to keeping a bedroom organized! My whole room can be a disaster, but if my bed is made, it feels 100 times better!
Really good bedroom organization tips!
Organize That Closet
It might sound a little OCD to say this, but keeping your clothes in a place where you can easily find them not only saves time but eliminates all those things that are just thrown around your room … you know, until you “find a place for it” or don’t have any coat hangers. When you have all your shirts in one section and your pants in another section, you are creating a specific place for something and you no longer need to “find a place”. You’ll be amazed how organizing your clothes affects your whole room!
Utilize Your Nightstands
I’m a huge fan of nightstands. I wear glasses, so I need somewhere to set them every night when I go to sleep. But don’t think of your nightstand as just a place to set your glasses, keys and the alarm clock (with the ever-famous snooze button)! Think of it as an extension of your dresser. Get a nightstand that allows for extra storage. If you are going to have a piece of furniture taking up that space anyway, make it count! I like to keep scarves, electronics and winter socks in those extra drawers! It’s a great way to swap out some of your smaller seasonal items. The more drawers, the better!

Add Storage
When you don’t have a whole lot of storage around your home, you have to make each and every piece of furniture count. Keep a chest at the end of your bed for extra sheets and blankets. No more piling things up in the corner! If you have a linen closet, you keep those kinds of things in it, and it’s also a great place to keep out-of-season clothes and/or shoes. Our closet is TINY, so in the summer, all my winter boots go in our chest! We have very limited closet space in our home, so this is a great place to keep anything you need to store away for a different season! Another great way to add storage to your bedroom is rolling bins that are made to slide under your bed!
Loving these organization tips for the bedroom! Really helpful.
Organize Your Decorations
Like I mentioned before, I want my bedroom to feel cozy, and to obtain this, you need decorations! To keep my room looking neat and clean, I like to “bundle” my decorations, if you will. I’m a huge fan of trays! The wooden tray pictured above allows me to bring in my own style but also allows me to move it out of my way if necessary. Maybe I need to fold clothes or open up my wooden chest; I just simply move my decorations aside without creating a bigger mess for myself, and I keep it all intact!
At the end of the day, it’s about making yourself find a place for everything and sticking with it! Staying organized is something I struggle with the most. I stay so busy that I just tell myself I’ll set it here for a second until I come right back, but then I don’t come right back. But I can do it! You can do it! We can get organized and take our rooms back!
