Kelly from Here Comes the Sun is back today to share how she incorporates patterns into her apartment decor.
When you live in an apartment or rental home, the big expanse of white or beige walls can be quite overwhelming. To break up all the beige, I like to incorporate bold patterns into my decor. Here are a few ways I have incorporated patterns into my space.
I have bold yellow chevron curtains in my living room. I made them a few years ago, and although the chevron trend may be on its way out, I still love how these look in my space. I keep them up spring through fall and then change them for a more “wintery” feel later in the year.
To go along with my chevron curtains, I have bold geometric patterned pillows for my couch. Pillows are so easy to decorate with because you can just switch them out to give the room an entirely different feel. I also like to add a bit of personalization to a room, like my handmade North Carolina pillow.
My dining area is small and I didn’t want to clutter it up with too many patterns so I chose just one to make a statement. I carried this pattern through to the kitchen as well.
Our master bedroom is another place that I like to mix and match patterns. I never thought that floral and geometric patterns could go together until I got this bedding set. The teal and brown pillows in the front tie in with the floral pattern and colors on the comforter.
When mixing patterns, use colors that complement each other to tie the different prints together. All these options are renter-friendly and don’t require any paint on the walls! For more home decor ideas, visit my blog, Here Comes the Sun.
