Recycle It Yourself: Pasta Jars

Apartment Living

If you’re a pasta lover like me you’re more than likely to have pasta at least once a week at home. With that pasta though, if you take the easy route, is a jar of sauce. What do you do with that glass jar when it’s done though? Rinse it out and send it to the recycling bin is your most likely answer. On the other you could recycle it yourself with some quick, cheap, and not to mention cute decorating ideas.
You can store bulk items in your jars such as coffee beans, rice, tea packets, sugar, flour, buttons, etc. Add some ribbon and decorated cardstock labels to the jars to differentiate what each item is and how old it is if need be.
Create your own candle holders and spare spending tons of money on ones from the store. Buy some spray on etching to frost the glass. You can make your own stencils to cover the glass to give your jars a personal touch. Drop a tea candle in the jar and use it either indoors or outdoors.
Also, you can buy some paint pens and decorate the glass jars with different patterns like polka dots or you can paint pictures on them as well. You can either set these around the house or again you can add a candle to make a luminary.
Not only do these make great decorating ideas, but they also make awesome personalized gifts for people in a pinch.
