While some would jump at the chance to work on the couch in their comfy sweats, some might be a bit hesitant about adjusting to the flexible, but sometimes lonely, lifestyle of a remote worker. While there are many benefits to working from home, there are a few drawbacks that might be a dealbreaker for some. Here are a few of the pros and cons of working from home.

Distractions

Pro: In the peace a quiet of your own home, you’ll avoid the distractions of a busy office and be more productive. The Pros and Cons of Working From Home Con: You might have worse distractions at home, or even create your own if you don’t have the discipline to stay focused.

Commuting

The Pros and Cons of Working From Home Pro: No wasting time stuck in traffic or cramped subways while commuting to an office. The Pros and Cons of Working From Home Con: While commuting is never fun, it does create a physical separation between the stress of home and work.

Interaction

The Pros and Cons of Working From Home Pro: Avoid small talk with coworkers you might not necessarily want to befriend, and stay out of office gossip and politics. The Pros and Cons of Working From Home Con: Working from home can be isolating and by being out of the loop, there’s a chance you might miss out on career furthering opportunities.
