Top 2016 Trending Colors for Home Decor

Home Decor

The new year is here, and Pantone has officially released its color of the year — which is, in fact, two colors: pink and blue. While I think these colors will be seen all around in the interior design world, I’m guessing we will also see a few different colors continue to drive home décor trends in 2016!
White Walls
Benjamin Moore’s color of the year is Simply White. For so long, people desperately tried to cover their white walls, but they are making a fierce comeback. White walls are now being perceived as a blank canvas upon which you can add color in your accessories, rugs and wall décor. White works with every style, and with so many styles floating around these days, it makes sense that this will be a popular color throughout the year.

Wood
People are really starting to move away from mass-produced furniture and are either building it themselves or supporting local artisans who seem to gravitate towards a craftsman style when building furniture. Reclaimed wood has been around for a while now, but I don’t think it’s going anywhere. As long as the country continues to push for greener options and sustainable materials, I think reclaimed wood will stay.

Natural Elements
Natural elements keep making appearances in our homes through greenery, wall hangings, centerpieces and anything else you can hang or set something natural on. Natural elements bring in a soft coziness while still maintaining a minimalist setting, which also seems to be gaining momentum. It’s all about creating that homey environment while staying organized and clean.

Gray
Gray is another color I think we will continue to see throughout the year, especially warm grays that don’t leave you with a sterile feel. Gray, in particular, will be a popular color for walls as well as in fabrics. Patterns will also boast different grays as a neutral color that provides an anchor to home décor.
Metal
Metals and metallics are being blended with each other as well as with wood and other rustic elements, creating a refined look that is becoming more and more desirable. This was very popular in the fall, and I think we will continue to see this trend move forward.
