As we inch our way more and more toward the glorious summer sun, the desire to freshen up our homes seems to grow alongside the fresh blooms we are enjoying all around us! Adding some color and fresh blooms to your home during this beautiful season is a surefire way to bring that cool, refreshing feeling into your home.
Bright Accent Pillows
Pillows are such an easy thing to change out as the seasons rotate. Just simply keep a tub full of out-of-season pillows and swap them out as necessary. Pillows can range anywhere from $5 to $200, so no matter how big your budget is, you are sure to find a pillow that suits your color palette and style. Don’t forget to check local stores like Walmart and Target, but you can also shop online for a vast array of choices. Another secret place I like to find pillows is craft stores. Hobby Lobby has a large selection of pillow covers. They work great if you are short on storage because you can change out the covers rather than the whole pillow, or use the cover on existing pillows.
Scatter Candles Throughout Your Home
Candles not only provide a pop of color, but they freshen the scent of your home. When completely refreshing a space, you want to appeal to multiple senses, and we all know smell is closely related to spring and summer! I like to go with the brightly colored candles for this season. If you don’t like the smell, you don’t have to burn that particular candle, but using candles are a great way to incorporate color into your home. Then, if you grow tired of one, you can always gift it to someone for a special occasion (assuming you haven’t already burned it, of course).
Make Your Entryway Welcoming
Your front door is the beginning of your home, where it all starts. Create a beautiful and welcoming area for your guests’ first few steps by adding a colorful, welcoming mat, along with a few flowers. These are sure to brighten up your entryway and leave you smiling!

Change Out Pictures in Frames
You don’t have to pay high prices for good pictures. Just snap a few photos of some pretty flowers with your phone, print them off and frame them. Then you can use these frames to change out pictures as the seasons move on. Hint: Some picture frames come with great photos displayed already.
Bring the Outdoors Inside
The outdoors is what we all crave during summer. Bring some of those outdoor elements indoors. If you don’t want anything too high-maintenance, consider using succulents or indoor herbs. Looking for a warm-weather tablescape? Consider this summery addition!
