People tend to scare off easily when it comes to blending styles. Sure, at first it can seem a tad daunting and appear easier to select an all-in-one, #everythingbeigeleather space, but who loves a room that looks like every other furniture showroom across the United States?

Mixing styles brings in more personality — your personal style along with items you actually treasure — is definitely a one-of-a-kind space and can actually save you a lot of your hard-earned money in the end. Now that’s a win-win for everyone.

Blending styles doesn’t have to be overwhelming. By sticking to a general color scheme and adding in key pieces, the rest is easy as pie, not to mention super fun!

1. Entryway
This is such a great area to make an impact, and the space pictured below does just that. Staying with an overly white color makes the space flow well and lets your eye land on those few key pieces. We have the vintage look of the bench, textiles, window and architectural details but a modern feel by using white paint, black wall sconces and a modern flower pot.

2. Bath
Sticking with the modern white color scheme throughout, this bathroom space flows seamlessly and keeps you visually interested. Using a vintage console as a bath vanity is definitely a key piece in the space, not to mention a fabulous idea! Add modern faucets and sinks but keep the vintage feel by adding gold-trimmed mirrors and black lighting. Pulling from both modern and vintage influences, the patterned tile is just the icing on the cake in this room.

3. Dining
There’s so much goodness in this space that I want to see it in person. Let me just say this is an updated vintage space with a slightly modern and clean feel. It can honestly go both ways. The clean lines of the shiplap, windows and table pull both modern and vintage. The light fixture adds in a bit of vintage flare, along with the dining chairs. The overall white walls and ceiling, along with the black windows, chant modern while the warm wood floors are invitingly vintage.

4. Living
I want to call this room an updated vintage space. Wouldn’t that just be modern? The chandelier pulls both styles in, along with the front door. Keeping the modern feel with a super simple mirror, white walls, clean-lined couch and table is an easy task. Throw in a bit of vintage by adding a wicker chair, a repurposed rug and recycled throw pillows.

5. Bedroom
A headboard can go either way in this area. If you find an awesome one for a great deal, snag it. If not, there are plenty of new, clean-lined headboards that are super reasonable. Slide in a gorgeous vintage table for your nightstand and add a simple, clean-lined light — not only for looks but for a great nighttime reading light. Simple and solid sheets, paired with a vintage blanket and pillows, pull these two styles together in this space.
