Creative Ways to Display Your Wine Storage

Home Decor

Wine storage is one of those areas that can cause a bit of confusion.
We don’t always want it setting out on the counter where it can be an eyesore and take up precious space, but we do want it to look presentable and be within arm’s reach.

Built-ins can be gorgeous, but for people who move around often or are renting, having a built-in made and installed isn’t an option.
There are, however, some pretty fabulous and eye-catching ideas out there. Here are five creative ways to store wine.
1. Built to Size
I really, really love taking a piece of wood and repurposing it into a fabulous statement piece.
There are such great stories behind custom pieces like this, and they really are a great conversation starter.
I also love the unexpectedness of this piece — it’s not your normal, run-of-the-mill countertop storage. It’s handmade and sized for just your space. If you don’t want to attach it to the wall, you could make it a tad bit taller and lean it against the wall.

2. Pallets
Pallets are still having their moment. Again and again and again.
Every day, it seems like someone has found a brilliant new use for them and you have that moment of, “Now why didn’t I think of that?” or “I could totally use that hack in my office.”
You have several options when it comes to hunting down a pallet. Of course, you can always hang out behind warehouses, home supply stores or the alley and snag one for free. If you go this route, you will save some pocket change but trade it for quite a bit of on-the-spot decision-making. Once you find your piece, check and double-check the quality of the wood. Make sure it can withstand the prep work, sanding, etc., and is in good enough shape to hold your wine bottles.
The second option you have is to buy a new one from your local home improvement store.
A third option is to ask around among your friends and neighbors. Is anyone having any appliances or furniture delivered that might come on one? Have they scored some for a project and have one left over? Have they seen any pallets outside a store?

3. Wooden Crate
This is such a cost-efficient way to make wine storage — not to mention it can be used on your countertop, table or shelf.
I constantly see these little crates at home improvement stores, grocery stores, home goods stores, craft stores, etc.
After you cut your inside pieces, simply glue and seal, or you can throw a quick coat of spray paint on your new piece.
There are just so many ways you can make this your own.

4. Fencing
I love this idea; it really is a great statement piece.
By gathering up some fencing, you can truly create a custom piece. There are so many options on making it a piece of your own: You can paint or stain it, hang it on the wall or have it lean against the wall and add a couple of horizontal wood pieces into the mix to store wine glasses.

5. Mailing Tubes
I was pretty shocked when I read what this was made out of: not just mailing tubes but cardboard mailing tubes. Who knew that cardboard could hold the weight? Nevertheless, I really love this idea.
Cut it down to size, glue together and paint if desired … voila; wine storage in no time at all.
You could use this in your pantry, in a cabinet, on a shelf or on a table.
The best part is that you can always add on to this if needed.
