Christmas really is my favorite time of the year. I love all the twinkling lights and the glitter and sparkle on all the decorations. For this project, I thought I’d combine the twinkling lights and sparkle by making some glittery chic Christmas vases. The best part about these vases is they don’t have to be just for the holidays. You can definitely use them for New Year’s and throughout the year. These also make really classic gifts that your recipient will actually use.
For this particular project, I was inspired by Kate Spade’s gold accessories, but of course you can use whatever color inspires you or matches your décor. These vases in a hot pink would be fun for Valentine’s Day. They’d also look great in blue by the backyard pool for the summer. The ideas and combinations are endless.
This project is also especially easy to do during the busy holiday season when everyone is hustling and bustling, because it really does just takes minutes to do, and cleanup is a breeze.
Materials needed:
-Glitter (you can use the fine dust or the larger pieces of glitter — your choice)
-Glue dots
-Double-sided tape
-Scissors
-Baking pan, baking sheet or even a poster board
-Glass vase
-Candle
-Paper towel
Instructions:
Step 1: Stick your double-sided tape or glue dots onto your glass vase. Create shapes like the crosses in my example by simply cutting your tape into small pieces. Create diagonal, horizontal or vertical lines with your tape. You can even create a plaid or crisscross pattern. Let your imagination soar.
Step 2: Pour the glitter into a baking pan, onto a poster board or some even, clean surface. I like the baking pan because the glitter is contained and makes cleanup a snap. All you have to do is rinse it down the sink. Use whatever you have, though.
Step 3: This is the part where the glittery magic of this DIY project happens. Roll your glass vase into the glitter. The glitter will stick to the tape or the glue dots.
Step 4: Wipe off the excess glitter with your paper towel. Try wiping the glitter off the vase with both a wet and dry towel. See which one works better for you. I used both.
