Any jar can be used to hold pencils, but you can also turn it into something special in seconds. Here we added Scrabble tiles from an old game to keep the pencils and pens secure. The tiles hold everything up while looking great at the same time. Think of other items you might have around your home that would serve this function. Staples like rice work in a pinch, but you might also try beads, marbles, rocks and more.

Think of unexpected uses for items that are around your home. Planters, creamers, bowls and more all have a wide enough opening for pencils. Here we used a vintage planter to hold markers. Search your home for anything with an opening, or shop the thrift store for similar finds if you cannot reuse anything on hand.
