How to Make Simple Wall Art Using Real Flowers

DIY

I am probably one of the biggest advocates I know of for creating your own art around your home.
It’s considerably cheaper.
You can use the colors you want in your space and the size you need without compromising on the only piece of art that you can find.
It’s a one-of-a-kind piece.
You will not spend hours searching and searching for that perfect piece. I constantly hear how people aren’t artistic, that they can’t paint, they don’t know how to do it, they are scared to mess up, etc. I will stand high and mighty on my soapbox and tell everyone you should at least attempt it — more than once. And it doesn’t always have to be paint. Think outside the box and find an alternative to use. Paper, glitter, glue, vinyl, ceramics or whatever your eye lands on in your home or in the craft aisles.
The options are endless.
Currently, we are overflowing with roses in our household. Four dozen to be exact, left over from a weekend of dance recitals. I wanted to use them before they wilted away from the summer heat. We have already started to hit close to 100, and I hated to lose them all. The thought of something easy to make was appealing, as well when I feel like it or as the season changes.
Materials:

  • Washi tape
  • Canvases of any size (I used super small ones)
  • Flowers of your choice
  • Thumbtacks or 3M Velcro strips (Straight pins if your tape isn’t quite sticky enough)

If you feel your flower is loose and want to make sure it will stay put, run a straight pin through the stem, angling the pin upwards.

Secure the straight pin on the back side of the canvas with a piece of washi tape.

I used thumbtacks to place my canvas on the wall so it makes small holes

I can fix myself. If you can’t have any holes at all,

you can use the 3M Velcro strips to hold the canvas in place.
