A plain index card folded in half makes a great place card. Decorate it to match your table and you will have something special to mark the places of your guests. Here we used plain white glue to spell out the names of our guests and laid twine in the glue while it was wet. Allow it to dry and you have a unique place card that everyone will love!

Miniature items meant for doll houses also make fun additions to your décor. Add miniature string lights to the top of the card with glue, then write on the name of your guest. Everyone will love this simple touch of whimsy, and it only takes a few seconds to complete.

Other miniature items can make great place cards as well. Here we used a miniature red wagon with a tape flag to dress our table for the holidays. Scour your favorite online shopping site for miniature items that will work with your table scape, then order enough for all of your guests. These items can also make great ornaments for your tree after the party is over!

Speaking of tree ornaments, those can make great place cards that will double as fun party favors at the end of the meal. Write on the names of your guests with a paint pen, then lay the ornaments on top of each place setting. Your guests will love taking these custom ornaments home to their own trees.

Sometimes you don’t need to write out the full names of your guests. Consider just using their first initial. Here we added a wood letter onto a clothespin for a fun and sparkly place card that is sure to turn heads. Use glitter tape if you want the letter to shine. The tape will not shed onto the plates and food when handled.
