Last Friday I posted about how to make a really simple yarn wreath, and since we had such a great response to it I have decided to post another blog dedicated to wreath building. This blog includes a few decorating ideas that you can use on your future wreath building projects.
Like the yarn project you can do the same thing to a wreath using ribbons. Some colors you might want to keep in mind for different holidays and seasons are:
-Winter: Shades of blue, gold, and silver
-Spring: Pastel colors
-Summer: Really bright colors like reds, oranges, and yellows.
-Fall: Some darker colors and a few bright colors. Your typical reds, oranges, and browns will work just fine.
Not every wreath has to look like the yarn wreath either. There are several different bases that you can use which will give you different ideas. There are wicker/twig bases, styrofoam bases, composites, and for the winter holidays you can make your own base using evergreen branches. Tie a red velvet ribbon with a bow and you have a holiday wreath in two steps.
Other than ribbon and yarn, what are some things that you can accent your wreath with? You can use:
-Silk flowers
-Stuffed figures
-Letters/Words
-Flipflops
-Pinecones
-Leaves, etc.
Wreath making can be a lot of fun and a great way to spend some time with friends or family members who love to craft. All you have to do is put your mind to it, and you’ll be surprised with what you’re able to come up with.
