Food and Entertaining

Being under the weather has to be one of the worst feelings ever. If you find yourself having to beat a cold it may be time to indulge in some warm, cold-fighting cocktails! One of our favorite drinks to order is a spicy Bloody Mary which is said to be rich in antioxidants thanks to its tomato juice contents and we are sharing where you can find some of the best in Dallas. We have even sprinkled in some details on some brunch specials and food pairing suggestions!

Anvil Pub

Nestled in the eclectic Deep Ellum neighborhood is the hip Irish pub, Anvil Pub, which is known for their “over-the-top” Bloody Marys. This piece of pure culinary art is only served on the weekends and served as a cocktail and a brunch bite all-in-one. The 32 oz. cocktail is served towering with the works and “a bacon cheeseburger slider and all the sides you can think of”. It’s quite a clever concoction that should absolutely be shown off on social media before digging in —a foodie’s dream! Anvil Pub also serves extravagant mimosas, sangrias and screwdrivers each paired with its own unique breakfast bite.

School, or work, is out for the weekend! Stop by one of the classroom-themed Public School restaurants. Public School 214 is located in West Village and the newer Public School 972 location is in Addison.
A house-made mix garnished with a celery stick, bacon sea salt and a chicken wing is served during brunch hours on weekends. Want more than one serving? With the purchase of a brunch entree, you can get a $7 carafe for yourself or to share of any brunch cocktail including the Bloody Mary.

Waltz up to the hostess stand, which resembles an old-fashioned hotel lobby desk, and be seated in a dining room decorated in great 1930s detail with antique-like, glam decor. As we enjoyed our fully garnished Bloody Mary at the bar dimly lit by antique brass desk lamps, it felt like we were in a classic mystery movie. Our recommendation —try The Theodore’s Bloody Mary with their popular Theodore Brunch Burger.
