You love movies and so do we! If you’re living in Dallas, there are several theater options to view everything from the latest blockbusters to cult classics to live plays and musicals. These aren’t nearly all of the theaters in the city, but these are some of our favorites that we think you should visit on your next evening out!
Independent Films | Angelika Film Center
This leader in independent films brings some of the hottest indie and art films to the Dallas metroplex. If you can’t find it in mainstream chain theaters, then chances are you will find it at the Angelika! Located in the Mockingbird Station shopping center, it is the perfect theater for a unique date night. Special opera, ballet and live theater showings are also available. Aside from classic concession options, Angelika also serves Lavazza coffee, Breadwinners sandwiches, wine, craft beer and cocktails.

Movie Buffs | Alamo Drafthouse
Are you a movie buff, or know one? Head over to Alamo Drafthouse Cedars! This theater has one of the most impressive series I’ve seen for moviegoers. Alamo takes celebrating and appreciating the classics to another level by really getting the crowds engaged with secret screenings, giveaways, collectible merchandise and special deals inspired by films. One of our favorite parts is the retro trailers and movie trivia before the films!
Not to mention, many of the the delicious bites and drinks use local food vendors, breweries and distilleries.
Alamo Drafthouse is a movie theater that is serious about cell phone usage during films with a one warning policy and you won’t have to worry about latecomers squeezing through after your movie has begun. Other locations include Richardson; coming soon are Las Colinas and Lake Highlands.

Broadway Plays | Music Hall at Fair Park
Dallas brings Broadway at Music Hall at Fair Park! You can catch some of the hottest shows when they come to the city. There are shows for fans of all ages each season, so take your pick! See plays and musicals such as The Lion King, Les Miserables, and The Color Purple. During the 2018-2019 season, Dallas will even be welcoming Hamilton to Music Hall!

Music & Entertainment | Majestic Theatre
Located in the heart of Downtown Dallas, the Majestic Theatre can be easily spotted with its large neon arrow sign. This venue is a Dallas classic and apart of the city’s history as it was opened in 1921 as a vaudeville theater. Soon after the era ended, The Majestic Theater later went on to show films on screen before becoming the performing arts venue that it is today.
See a show at The Majestic and keep your ticket because with proof of purchase, ticket holders may receive a free dessert at Wild Salsa or Dallas Fish Market or dine prior to your show at Dallas Chop House for a three-course dinner for two and a champagne toast for a special price. Perfect date night? We think so!

If classic films steal your heart, then settle into one of Inwood Theater’s plush seats on a Tuesday night.
Nestled inside of the theater is The Inwood Lounge that opens just in time for happy hour on weekdays. Try a Lounge Classic Martini or one of their other specialty cocktails, wine and craft beer. Inwood Theater is adult-friendly!
