Making your own pumpkin purée is probably a lot easier than you think. I always thought it would be difficult until my late great mother showed me how to do it. To get started, you just need a few things to get the job done:
-
A Pumpkin (Preferably a sugar pumpkin)
-
Knife
-
Ice Cream Scoop (Not necessary but it helps get the pumpkin guts out)
-
Baking Dish
-
Oven
- Blender
There are six steps that are super easy to follow to make your own homemade pumpkin purée!
-
Cut off the top of your pumpkin.
-
Cut your pumpkin in half from top to bottom.
-
Scoop out the guts of it. A tip: use an ice cream scoop – makes it super easy to get the guts out!
-
Place your pumpkin halves on a baking dish, then put in a 350 degree oven for 45 minutes, or until fork tender.
-
Using a sharp knife, slice off the skin. Or you may get lucky and be able to just peel off most of it.
-
Place your pumpkin in a blender and blend until smooth!
How easy was that?! Now, let’s put that delicious puréed pumpkin into a yummy recipe.
