Tis the season for Christmas cocktails! While most holiday cocktail parties pop open the champagne or add cranberries to traditional favorites, I wanted to shake things up a bit with the ultimate boozy eggnog float. We’re talking about a cocktail so decadent that it can easily double as a dessert. The best thing about this fancy, delicious treat is that it’s super simple to make! You don’t need a huge kitchen or even a stocked bar cart to have these ingredients on hand during the holidays. Plus, it’s easy to customize and tailor to your favorite flavors.
While my version of this holiday treat contains alcohol, you can certainly leave the alcohol out. As normal, I like to give you lots of ways to tailor any recipe to your favorite flavors. For example, I used coconut rum but you can certainly use regular rum. As I was making these boozy eggnog floats, I also thought about using different flavors of ice cream to spice things up. A few I thought about that would be delicious additions to this eggnog float were coffee, butter pecan, maple, and cinnamon bun! Now we’re talking, right?
If you’re hosting a party around the holidays then consider setting up an float station with all the mix-ins from ice cream flavors to spices to sprinkle on top (like cinnamon, nutmeg, and pumpkin spice). Don’t forget the milk, eggnog, and of course alcohol. Set out the glasses and challenge your holiday guests to build the “ultimate eggnog float”.
For my recipe, follow along below. It’s a great base to branch off from like I mentioned above. Or make it exactly like mine, you won’t be disappointed. Turn on the Christmas lights and curl up by the fire with a boozy eggnog float. Don’t forget the holiday movies!
