While there seems to be a different food holiday every single day, there is absolutely one that must not be missed; National Cheese Fondue Day! That pretty much sounds like the perfect day to indulge, now doesn’t it? I love cheese fondue and the meat options as well, but when it comes down to it, go big or go home. Are you with me? Good, because I’ve put a delicious twist on traditional chocolate fondue that I think you, your friends, and your whole family are going to love to add to your Fondue Day menu!
Cake batter flavored treats are still taking the foodie world by storm, and it’s easy to see why! It’s pretty hard to resist licking the batter bowl after making chocolate cake or brownies, right? So I decided to give traditional chocolate fondue a little chocolate cake batter twist. Don’t worry, it’s still just as easy as melted chocolate! You only need a little chocolate cake mix to give that ooey gooey cake batter flavor to your chocolate fondue. You can recreate this for the vanilla cake by using white chocolate chips and vanilla cake mix. Add some rainbow sprinkles to that mix for garnish! For chocoholics, I have you covered. The recipe is down below so you’ll be all ready to invite your friends over to celebrate National Fondue Day, right from your own apartment.
While a fondue pot is certainly helpful, it’s not mandatory. You can heat up this chocolate cake batter fondue in a saucepan on the stove top. You just might need to reheat it up every so often if it starts to harden. As for traditional fondue pots, they usually have a warmer underneath so your chocolate stays warm! They usually come with fondue sticks but you can also buy bamboo skewers at the grocery store (often near grilling tools) as an alternative.

Let’s talk about all the yummy items you dip in this amazing chocolate cake batter fondue, shall we? I always love to include fruit because it adds a pop of color so strawberries, raspberries, bananas, kiwis, orange slices, etc. I also love to include plain shortbread cookies, plain donuts, waffles, mini pancakes, and pretty much any other treat that tastes delicious when dipped in chocolate. The sky is the limit so have fun with it!
