Lights! Camera! DIY Sequin Photo Booth

Food and Entertaining

Photo booths are a major thing to be doing at parties right now. They have been around for a while, and I don’t see them going anywhere anytime soon; they are just too fun!

A New Year’s Eve party is probably one of the best times to have one, and there are so many great things about having a photo booth!
They are cheap to make and can be assembled in a reasonable amount of time.
They do not take up a ton of space; mine is flat and pretty much takes up no space at all. Plus, all I used was tape, so it is perfect for renters!
You can totally customize it to your liking. Whether you want to match your party theme, go crazy or keep it simple, it’s all up to you.
I wanted to stick to a gold and silver theme this year and found it pretty easy to find everything.
Materials:

  • Large white sheet (queen or king will work)
  • Tape (double-stick and packaging tape)
  • Numbered balloons
  • Large sequins; mine are 40mm (can be found at local craft stores and online)
  • Photo booth props, found at any craft store

Directions:

  1. Hang your sheet on a flat surface, such as a wall; I attached ours to the entertainment center with packaging tape.
  2. Center numbered balloons and tape to the floor. I also tape to the sheet to keep them from rotating around.
  3. Using double-stick tape, place the sequins on the sheet. If you have more than one person placing sequins, you can fly through this. Also, I spaced the sequins a knuckle width apart.
  4. Finish out the sheet, going under the balloons if wanted.

Now you are pretty much set and ready to go!
I have a couple of options that I like to use when it comes to taking the picture:

  1. You can use disposable cameras and have everyone leave them in a box when full.
  2. You can use trusty iPhones, and this isn’t a bad option. They take really great photos, and you can grab a timer app in the App Store so you don’t have to bug anyone to take a pic.
  3. Or you can set up a tripod with a camera attached and snap away!

With all three, take your time and focus on your subjects.
Don’t get in such a hurry that your images turn out like this:

Slow down and focus, and you will love the end result so much more!
