Five New Spins on Traditional S'mores

Food and Entertaining

S’mores are a summer staple around here. This year, however, we are changing up this classic. I have five ways for you to enjoy s’mores that are not your typical preparation. They are all just as easy as the original, but some may even be more delicious. Sit by the campfire, and give each of these a try. You can even prepare these under the broiler of your stove on a rainy day. Either way, enjoy the gooey goodness of s’mores this summer.

Toffee S’mores

Try adding some toffee chips to your s’mores for an added bit of flavor and crunch. You can sprinkle them onto the chocolate, which is placed on a graham cracker. Melt the entire thing slightly in the oven or in a pan on the campfire. Then, add on your toasted marshmallow and another cracker. This is one way to add a little gourmet touch to this otherwise simple dessert.

Mini S’Mores

Go mini with your s’mores! Roast mini marshmallows, and add them to the center of mini Oreos. You can pop these whole delectable treats into your mouth. The Oreo serves both as your chocolate and as a cracker, so no other ingredients are needed—such a simple and tasty idea.

Chocolate Chip Cookie S’mores

Those mini Oreo s’mores were so good – why not give a few more cookie ideas a try? Grab a classic like chocolate chip cookies, and smash your toasted marshmallow in between them. Again, no other ingredients are needed for this amazing treat. Here, I have used store-bought cookies, but you could absolutely try this with your favorite homemade chocolate chip cookie recipe. The marshmallow warms the cookies slightly and melts some of the chips. These will melt in your mouth!

Girl Scout S’mores

As long as we are trying out cookie s’mores, we might as well give a Girl Scout classic a try as well. Grab some Samoas (or another Girl Scout classic like Thin Mints) and add in your toasted marshmallow. If you love the cookie alone, you will be amazed at what a warm toasty marshmallow will do for it. These are messy, but trust me, they are worth it. Be sure to pick up a few extra boxes of these when the Girl Scouts knock on your door this year.

Nutella S’mores

Last, but certainly not least, are these peanut butter Nutella s’mores. Grab the jar of peanut butter and Nutella before heading out to your next campfire. Spread both of these on your graham crackers before adding in your toasted marshmallow. Enjoy this amazing (and simple) treat! You may never go back to plain old s’mores again.

Enjoy these new spins on the classic s’mores any time of the year. You can also have fun with your family by trying to come up with your own amazing ideas. What will you use to make s’mores a little more gourmet, a little more you, and a little bit better? I am almost convinced that you can smash a toasted marshmallow between anything, and it will be delicious!
