I know it’s hard to think ahead and make New Year’s plans with Christmas just days away, but the new year is right around the corner! My cute little family of four doesn’t go all out for this particular holiday (in fact, we rarely make it to midnight), but we do eat a special dinner, play with sparklers in the backyard, drink sparkling cider, trumpet blow horns and bang pots and pans at midnight (or pretend it’s midnight at nine o’clock for the kids). As we blow our horns and bang our pots, we scream out a few of our resolutions for the upcoming year. It’s a silly little tradition, but our kids love it, and it helps us remember the resolutions throughout the year.
Whether you throw a huge New Year’s rooftop party, attend a formal dinner party or enjoy a quiet but festive night at home, New Year’s party favors are always appropriate for the evening. Every new year, I try to design and create an original and clever party favor, but the crowd favorite continues to be my DIY printable blow horns.
This printable was inspired by a trip to the dollar store to purchase some blow horns for a party. The selection was slim and the colors terrible, and I walked away with bright orange party horns. They didn’t match my party, and I was frustrated with how the party horns looked with my other decor. While searching for another solution but still really wanting to use party horns, a light bulb went off! I decided to design my own blow horns with the colors and patterns of my choosing (but still use the whistle piece from the horns purchased at the Dollar Tree). They turned out amazing and continue to be my kids’ favorite New Year’s accessory. Especially when I add a little glitter! I thought you, your party guests or your children might enjoy making these DIY printable blow horns and have included both the printable template and tutorial below!
Here’s how you make a DIY blow horn:
1. Download the FREE PRINTABLE blow horn template HERE and print.
2. Cut out the blow horns.
3. Purchase blow horns from Dollar Tree and remove the existing paper horn from the whistle.
4. Wrap the printed and cut blow horn templates, tape in a cone shape and place inside the whistle.
5. To glitter, wrap the ends of the blow horn with double-sided tape and roll in glitter.
