Planning Your Football Tailgate Party

Food and Entertaining

Are you a “fair weather” fan? We all know the type, the one you only hear from when their team is winning. You know, the people whose tweets and competitive comments are endless while their football team is winning, but when their team isn’t playing well, the updates are non-existent?!

Whether you’re a “fair weather” fan or not, we don’t mind, as long as you’re having fun! For all levels of football fans out there we would like to provide you with tailgating tips to help celebrate your team’s victory before they even get on the field!

Dress in Your Team Colors: Show your loyalty by wearing a team sweatshirt or jersey and hat. If you are moved by the spirit, paint your face!

Plan your Menu. Keep the menu simple and prep a day or two before the game. Think barbecue, chili, stews, baked beans, finger sandwiches, hamburgers, hot dogs, etc. If you need recipes and ideas, check out Tailgating.com. Remember, the further ahead you prepare the more time you can spend having fun!

Bring Supplies. Pack any necessary products for eating, cleaning up or decorating for your party. It’s a good idea to bring a first aid kit, trash bags, water, hand wipes, chairs, etc.

Arrival. Plan to arrive 3 to 4 hours early and stay 1 to 2 hours after the game for the post game tailgating party wrap-up. Find a good spot to park near a grassy area or the end of the parking row – this will give you more space to celebrate!

Decoration. Fly a helium balloon or team flag from your table and vehicle so friends can find you. Decorate your foldable table with team paraphernalia! Remember to get paper products that match your team colors. I would give advice on the best NFL team colors to buy, but in an effort to remain neutral, I’ll leave that option to you…=)

Get out and tailgate and good luck to your team!
