Set Springtime Vibes With a Beautiful Seasonal Tablescape

Food and Entertaining

Spring Tablescape 01
When most people think of spring table décor, holidays like Easter and Passover come to mind. However, spring is a season that extends through May and includes Mother’s Day, and it also serves as a lovely excuse to invite friends over anytime to celebrate the end of long winter days.
A nice way to mark the season is to entertain with a beautiful tablescape incorporating springtime touches that will make your guests feel cheerful. Don’t forget your friends born in April, May and early June as you consider these décor tips for setting a spring table!
Colors First

Certainly, the first color one thinks of regarding spring has to do with some sort of pastel — pinks, baby blues, yellows, etc. While these sugary shades can be appealing in their own right, try branching out into some of the lesser-used lighter colors, such as peach, vibrant coral and all shades of green. You can temper the effect by blending with whites, creams or yellows as you desire. Tie all these colors together in a striking floral centerpiece (real or artificial) set off by neutral tableware and linens, or go bold with a contrasting shade to really catch maximum eye appeal.
Light and Airy

Whichever color scheme you ultimately decide on, make sure to unify your overall table look with some elements of lightness, air and clarity. This is not the time to use heavy, colored glassware; instead, choose simple, clear stems. While lighting can often be atmospheric, the idea here is not drama and intrigue. Go for slender candles in light shades to add a bit of fairy-like flicker without any sense of weight. [tweetthis]Go for slender candles to add a bit of light-flicker without the weight.[/tweetthis]

Finishing Touches

Finally, consider non-floral elements that represent the rebirth and happiness of springtime. Traditional Easter favorites like rabbits and chicks are always appropriate for any spring table, but you can also experiment with such interesting elements as birds’ nests (try using miniature ones to hold name cards) or eggs. And if you’re looking for an alternative to the traditional (tedious?) practice of writing out name cards, simply place different-colored bird eggs — available at your local craft store — in a nest on each individual plate.
Document Spring!

After you’ve finished setting your springtime table, be sure to take a photo before guests arrive so you can refer to it in seasons to come. Spring is a season of change, so with every new year, strive to make your décor a little bit different than the year before. Enjoy!
