The holiday season is here! Have you prepared your neighbor gifts yet? I love the tradition and find great joy in preparing little gifts for all the neighbors on my street. I begin scheming my neighbor gift ideas in October and count down the days until I can start assembling and gifting. I love getting my children involved, also, to help teach them the importance of giving and telling the important people in your life how much you love them.
In an effort to help you create the perfect gift this year, I’ve listed a few of my no-fail neighbor gift rules.
It’s All about That Bulk
When it comes to neighbor gifts, it’s all about buying in bulk. I have oodles of neighbors, and I try to find gifts that can be purchased or made in large quantities and are therefore cost-effective. So grab your Costco card and purchase those big ol’ bags of goodies!
Assembly Line
I also like to purchase, make or bake items that can be easily wrapped or put together in an assembly line. I line my sweet girls up, and they help me assemble the gifts. In the example below, I purchased sprinkles by the very large bag from a baking warehouse and the glass jars on a wholesale craft website. One of my daughters filled the jars with sprinkles via a funnel, while the other tied the tags to the jar. With their help, assembling 100 gifts took no time at all.
Pun Away
Maybe it’s just me, but the best part of any neighbor goodie bag is the pun or tag that is associated with the gift. I love me some play on words and even have a little “pun book” I carry around to capture fun phrases when they pop into my head. I like to do something new every year and design printables with the phrase or pun to attach to the gift. So get thinking and come up with a clever way to tell your neighbors you love them!
Accessorize
To top the present off (literally) and give the gift that wow factor, tie your tag to the gift with a big bow, ribbon or twine (I like to make it sparkly). Your neighbors will appreciate the extra detail and be impressed by your Martha-like instincts.
If these tips seem a little overwhelming, you can always replicate my “Sprinkle” gift idea below and download the gift tag here for free!
