Renters Beware
Moving out of La Ventana was the best decision we could have ever made. The unit is NOT worth the abusive price hiking and extremely money hungry landlord. This is a HUGE warning to those wanting to move into this building. They will tell you anything you want to hear to move in and then neglect you because they probably have to focus on filling another vacancy that opened up. The turnover rate is about 50% of the units become vacant per year (15 units in building). The owner’s neglect is some... of the worst in the city- not to mention the countless lawsuits that they are involved in. In the span of a year, some of the building complains have been: a broken washer/dryer refused to be fixed, an air conditioning unit catching on fire, and one of the apartments having the most inconsiderate tenants in the building being so loud the entire building notices when he stomps around. They claim to paint, when they only prime and charge you a surcharge just to put bandaids on things for them to break and then claim you broke it. They charge you over $100 for each parking space and just tackle on fees that the owner things is acceptable because he’s “losing” money and trying to “sell” the building and makes it his tenants problem. The building fire extinguishers are expired, the elevator permit was 3 years expired, and none of the building cameras actually work- they are for show. The building intercom system is always broken and doesn’t actually function properly even when it’s working. Do yourself a favor; avoid this building. Unless you know a lot about renters law because you will have to threaten to sue the landlord (I know of 4 different units that had to) to get anything, including security deposit back.
Also- they’ll tell you the pool is heated… it’s not.
