The Madison at Ballston Station Apartamentos

Huge security problems here. Cars getting stolen out of parking garage. Men banging on apartment doors in the middle of the night claiming to be from "maintenance" and demanding entry into your unit--- but they do not work here. Management won't even return calls about these problems.Terrible maintenance issues: Garage door was broken shut and we could not leave to get to work on time. Then they left the doors open 24/7 and cars were getting stolen. No a/c in the gym. The business center has not... worked since I arrive 8 months ago. Horrible experience. Lee mas

The differences between the 4400 building and the 4401 building are astonishing. The 4400 building constantly smells in the hallways. The lights are barely bright enough to see anything.

The gym is barely a gym. There are no dumbbells under 20lbs in the gym. During the summer there was no AC in there either.

The parking garage is awful. The tiles are crumbling from the ceiling, water is leaking from pipes in the ceiling, and parking spots are not very wide.

Recently, they cleaned the 4400... parking garage, which is nice. However, the garage has been opened for WEEKS. The garage doors have not been closed at all since before the cleaning began. As of 2 days ago, someone stole personal belongings from cars and also stole a vehicle out of the garage. Management then sent out an email to all residents of 4400 stating that all residents have key fobs and to not let people tailgate behind them. I am not even sure if ACPD knows the truth behind the garage being open for weeks since the email stated that management was advised to say that from ACPD.

Elevators are slow, they are barely operational at this point. Walls are thick, but doors are so thin that if someone is in the hallway, you can hear every word of their conversation.

The price you pay for living at the 4400 building is truly not worth it. If you are planning to live at 4401, that building is actually updated, their garage closes, their hallways don't smell awful, they are actually inviting! The gym is much more updated as well.

Overpriced for what you get. Rent increases are insane, each year they ask for $300 or more. Management says they’ll get back to you in a day or two with responses, and after several follow up emails, it still took a month to hear back. The AC is broken in the gym and it is 84 degrees in there during the summer, and the building management refuses to replace it.
Staff is really friendly though.

Trash security in building. Multiple break-ins in the garage. Car windows smashed to steal air bags from them. Multiple bikes stolen from fob-access bike storage room. We were prompted to contact management regarding the bikes stolen. Management’s response was that they are not installing any security cameras, they don’t have footage of anyone walking out of the premises with, not one, MULTIPLE bikes and that it most likely was a resident that broke into the storage room and cut off all the bike... locks. For all I know, anyone can get into the building and break into your apartment. Hopefully all they get is stolen property. He basically said they are not doing anything to improve building security and are very vocal about them not advertising security as a pro to living here, despite the fact that they did advertise how safe it was to leave the bikes in the secure storage room when we originally toured. That’s pretty much everything the building manager had to say about almost $3,000 of property stolen from their secure room only in bikes that belonged to us. This does not account for my neighbors’. It used to be okay, but management at Madison at Ballston has now become absolutely terrible. Our A/C has been down for 6 days, in the middle of 90 degree DC summer, and we are still stuck with a tiny portable air unit that doesn't cool half of our unit. This is in spite of maintenance's promise that they would be able to secure parts for the A/C unit within two days. Two days have passed and they have not reached out to provide update, until we had to call them to find out that it will take... them another week to secure the parts. It is like they have completely forgotten about our maintenance request, and don't bother to proactively provide updates to tenant's crucial basic needs the way a proper management would do. Very disappointing, and I advise to think twice before moving in here. Lee mas
