Decent apartment, but I can't live with roaches!
These are USDA Rural Development subsidized apartments for seniors 55 . They're not too bad, about 8-9 years old, and were built with the very cheapest of materials both inside and outside. I can hear the man next door shaving and even urinating. When the man upstairs drops his cane on the floor, both my dog and I are exceedingly startled (because the wall to wall carpet is so thin, and the ceiling is as thin as it can legally be).
The management office is always polite and responsive, but... cleaning of hallways, and all common areas is more "miss" than "hit", unfortunately.
Extermination services must be requested by the renter, rather than being scheduled by Maintenance on a regular basis. This is Florida, and the people living here are old, so regularly scheduled dates for building extermination should be managed by the office.
I call and ask that the exterminator comes every 1-2 weeks and still have roaches. I see them in the hallway, floors, walls, ceilings, and doors, when I'm walking the dog, checking my mail, exiting or entering the building. But what truly scares me is opening a drawer or cupboard in my bathroom or kitchen and finding one running around in there - yuck!!
