Stay Away
Due to the lack of available housing in the area, I have been living at the Cottonwood One Upland apartments for several years. Under the “old” management they would routinely effectuate all the maintenance necessary for the good functionality and safety of the building like changing the batteries on the apartment’s entry doors (the locks on the apartments needs a 9 volts battery for the key FOB to operate the lock), changing the batteries on the smoke and Co2 detectors, routinely change the... filter in the heat pump unit etc. Then on March 2020, we were informed that ownership of the building would change and everything went downhill from there. Now maintenance is basically nonexistent: - If the 9 volts battery in your apartment lock runs out, you will be locked out, and if the front office is closed already, you will have to wait until the next day - Nobody will ever show up to replace the batteries on your smoke detectors or the filter in your heat pump, unless you request it - Under the old management you would have to register your car with the front office and display a resident sticker. Now everybody can just come and park wherever they want and finding a parking space, after 9:00pm is almost impossible. - Even thou they say on their web site, if you have an emergency after office hours, you can just call and you will be connected to the answering service, it will not happen. The phone will ring and ring forever until you will hear a message to “try your call later”. I had the local police knocking at my door asking how they could contact management in order to open a unit door to conduct a “well check”. After repeatedly trying to contact somebody, they had to call the fire department in order to open the door for them. - Over a month ago, the water pressure on one of the buildings went down to a trickle. Front office keeps saying that the water pressurizer stopped working and that they are waiting for some parts in order to fix it (what about just replace the entire unit?). Aside from being a huge inconvenience, since the water pressure is so low that taking a shower is almost impossible, it is also, and more importantly a safety hazard. In case of a fire, the water pressure is so low that the sprinkler system would not be able to function as designed. If you have another alternative, stay away from Cottonwood
