Terrible service to residents after move in. Credibility means nothing to them, they will tell you one thing and do another.

Oakwood is the best apartment/townhouse layout in Big Rapids. It still beats they brand new apartments across the street. The only reason I give it 1 star is because there have been ABSOLUTELY no upgrades to the entire complex since "Vie" took over. The previous owners made leaps by upgrading Hillcrest and have continued to boast that for the last 3 years. Yes, Hillcrest is nice now, but Oakwood has turned into a dump. The carpet and appliances in our appartment are from 2006. I realize that any… college apartment is bound to be destroyed but TWELVE YEARS on the same carpet?? Thats too much.

The previous management started to update appliances and units during summers but since "Vie" took over, NOTHING has been done. Typical out of state company employing locals and college students with no idea of what is acutally going on. The only thing the new management did was install prison lights across the courtyard to "prevent" building fires. I am going on to 3 years at Oakwood Townhouses, never thought twice about leaving. For the amount of amenities it makes the price very reasonable. The management staff is on top of their stuff. Whenever I had a problem, the ladies at the front office Harley and Elle would take care of it. They never gave me attitude and always had a smile on their face. Although there are minor cons as with every apartment complex but they don't out weight the pros if they did I would not be going on my 3rd year… . Main con is the potholes in the parking lot. If you want a comfortable living space in Big Rapids as a student this will be your best option. It's not at capacity every year for no reason. Read More

I was very excited to move into Oakwood Townhouses. I had thought that it seemed like a fun community and i also thought that the apartments were nice. Come to find out, this is the farthest thing that it could possibly be from the truth. To start with, my apartment was broken into twice. the first time, our back door was broken and needed to be replaced so it would lock and would actually shut correctly, but the apartment complex told us it was not in their budget and we would have to wait (it… has been almost 3 months now and still no new door). Even worse, the second time our apartment was broken into we contacted the property manager and she did not believe us that it was broken into again and told us that we should have gotten a picture of it. when I asked her about the safety of the apartments, she told me that tenants safety is not in the lease, and that we will just have to live with it. I fear for myself and my belongings when I am here. On top of everything, our apartment was very dirty, never carpet cleaned, burn marks all over the carpets and ceramic floors, and It smelled horrid. Again, Oakwood did nothing for us. The internet and cable did not work for the first month that I lived here and was told by oakwood that it is not their problem. We also have never had same day maintenance on anything, and trust me we have had a lot go wrong with our old rundown apartment. There is a constant coat of glass in the courtyard which makes it unusable, and they advertise a basketball court, but it is a cement pad without hoops. They did not get the basketball court, or overgrown volleyball court ready until it became too cold to enjoy these things. My roommates and I have all been so disgusted and let down by Oakwood that we are all finding subleases for the next semester and living somewhere else.
