Winter parking issues
My experience with the management team at Caro was unbelievably bad.
During the intro tour, I was told that I could park in certain spots on Caro's parking lot during the winter without being towed (if I went away for a trip, and it snowed). This was the first question that I always led with when visiting apartments since I don't want to worry about moving my car or getting towed if I'm away for a trip during the winter. However, after I had applied, the manager there told me that it was... actually not possible to park in the winter at Caro (without getting towed), but that one of their other properties (Corsa) allowed for it. The solutions offered by Caro was to park somewhere else, ask someone to come move my car (should I plan my business trip around keeping track of when it snows in Salem and making sure someone can move my car?), or pay for them to tow my car. So, I asked them to either give me my $500 hold deposit back or transfer my application to their other apartment complex (Corsa). Their response was that they were going to keep my $500 hold fee regardless of what I did because it had already been 72 hours, and that if I wanted to, I could apply to Corsa and pay a new $500 hold fee.
When I told my girlfriend what happened, her first comment was.. "wow, those guys are thieves". I'm still trying to get my $500 back.
