Lived Here My Entire Childhood
The stairways and railings are repainted consistently along with the parking lots being repaved, but it's a hassle to get everyone to cooperate and move their cars. The cleaning ladies are so sweet and work hard to sanitize apartments for new tenants and make everything else sparkle!
One big issue is privacy which is why we put a slide bolt on our front door. Even then, we'd notice the deadbolt locked when we come home even though we only locked the doorknob. Many neighbors we grew fond of... shared similar stories, some saying they noticed things clearly missing from their apartment. So, be weary of that although I'm sure the constant complaints have brought about some discipline over their staff by now.
There are yearly HUD inspections, but the complex managers do their own prior to these. You get a paper with a day saying when they'll stop by, but even then they might decide to skip you altogether without notice so you've stressed yourself out getting ready for it just for them to not show up.
I'm glad they finally upgraded the night lights around the grounds and installed security cameras. It feels a lot more safe than it did a few years back.
As a final note, Hawksworth has gotten much better after recently putting more money into upkeep and upgrades. Most of the residents have lived there for years and camp like hawks at their little smoking areas, but there's always a good conversation to be had.
They've definitely lifted this place out of it's previously terrible reputation.
