Ok for short term
When I first started living here, it seemed really cute. I was in a one-bedroom that was a decent size with a decent size closet. The carpets were new, the bathroom sink was new, and the kitchenette area was new. Everything was fine with the exception of very loud neighbors above me and next to me (thin walls). They eventually moved (or got kicked out) and all was well.
But then I started noticing little roaches and Waterbugs coming out of nowhere. Then the bugs got bigger so I laid some traps... and it seemed to take care of it. Then the mice came, which I expected living in the city. But this wasn’t just 1 or 2 occasional mice. These mice basically LIVED in and under my oven. I would sometimes see 2 of them run across the stove and sink. When I told management about this issue, the solution was to lay some sticky traps down WHICH MY DOG GOT HER PAW STUCK ON ONE THAT I MISSED! So now I felt stuck living with mice because I couldn’t afford to move, and mice eventually die, and STINK up the entire apartment for about a week.
Another problem would be the squirrels that run loose. I had squirrels in my ceilings and you could here them running back and forth throughout the fall.
Around my second year I noticed that when it rained hard, my bedroom walls began to leak and now has this ugly water stain.
In the spring I get these HUGE mutant flies (like 10 at a time) that all eventually die on my window pane.
My neighbor (above me) has flooded her apartment about 6 times and each time the water came straight down into my apartment. Water would come through my ceiling fan onto the carpet, or through the vent and onto the toilet and floor in my bathroom.
During my first and second years, the EXTREMELY loud fire alarms would go off throughout the night for no reason.
Overall, would I recommend staying here? Not really. I’ve been here for 3 years because you can’t really find many places this cheap close to a plethora of public transportation, and access to a lot of good eating places (delivery). But cheap rent comes at a cost. Make your decision wisely.
