Month Without a Washer, But the AI Phone System Works Great
If you enjoy speaking exclusively with artificial intelligence while basic maintenance issues remain unresolved for weeks, this is the place for you.
For nearly a month now, my sister—who lives at Griffis Oak Lawn—has been without a functioning washing machine. Multiple calls have been made requesting a replacement or repair, yet every attempt to reach someone capable of resolving the issue is redirected to an AI phone system. The result is a loop of automated responses with no meaningful... accountability.
At one point we even proposed a simple, practical solution: since there are vacant units in the building (including the neighboring apartment that has recently been vacated), could the washing machine from an empty unit temporarily be moved into hers? The answer we received was that doing so would be “against policy.”
When we asked what specific policy would prevent such a straightforward fix—especially when a tenant has already gone weeks without a basic appliance—no one could explain. The response was simply that it “can’t be done.”
What’s most concerning isn’t the broken appliance itself—things break everywhere. The issue is the complete absence of accessible human support and the inability of management to provide clear reasoning or a timeline for resolution.
A residential community shouldn’t operate like a customer service maze where tenants are left negotiating with algorithms while essential maintenance drags on indefinitely.
Hopefully management will eventually decide that resolving a tenant’s month-long appliance issue is worth more effort than maintaining a policy no one can explain.

Property Manager at Griffis Oak Lawn responded to this review
We’re sorry to hear about this experience and appreciate you bringing it to our attention. At this time, we have not been able to locate a record of this specific maintenance issue at Griffis Oak Lawn. We’d like the opportunity to look into this... further and ensure it’s handled appropriately. Please reach out to our team directly and provide your sister’s name and apartment details so we can investigate and move forward with a prompt resolution.
For clarity, we strive to provide solutions as quickly as possible, and in situations like this, we are happy to offer temporary alternatives. In this case, we would allow the use of a washer and dryer in a vacant apartment while we work to resolve the issue as quickly as possible.
