Greedy New Owners
After the pandemic, new owners, who are not native to El Paso, purchased the property. Not long after that, they started raising rates and cutting maintenance-related costs by making the renter responsible for AC/Heater upkeep, etc.
Since the out-of-towners purchased the property, they have hiked rent by about 15%, a trend which continues to this day.
Of course, the fault isn't theirs! It's the economy, stupid! It's "inflation," stupid; of course they're not just trying to take advantage of... the economic headwinds to get more money out of your pocket! How dare you even suggest that.
These people have no soul.
There's a reason why these old apartments have been below market average for 10-15 years, maybe longer; but don't let the lead paint waiver in the lease scare you!
As long as the owners get their cut, let them eat cake.

Yes, we have raised our rents since the pandemic like every other apartment complex because all of our costs have increased, property taxes, insurance, wages, supplies, etc. However, we pride ourselves on keeping our rents lower than our competitors... because we want our tenants to stay and enjoy living here. We give our tenants free a/c filters each month so they don't have to buy them themselves and their a/c units will run efficiently. Over the past 3 years we have remodeled both pool areas, added a gas BBQ area, added a dog park, in addition to remodeling many apartments. The owner is hands on at the property every day over seeing every aspect of the property and making many improvements for the benefit of the tenants.
