Cheap

The two best things about these apartments is that they are cheap and in a quiet area. But with cheap comes the kind of tennants you'd expect. There was frequently some pretty sketchy stuff happening. I had a drug dealer for a neighbor for a few months once.
With paper-thin walls, hope your neighbors are relatively quiet or at least don't have the kind of dirty laundry you want to keep out of your life. It's like living with two more families. You can literally have spoken conversation...
through the walls, I've done it.
The property manager is a nice enough guy, but really nosy. He's pretty quick about maintenance issues, but does frequent "inspections." Inspections with no real reason. He just likes to come walk through your place. Notice is given, of course, but it still feels pretty invasive.
Decor is cheeeeeeeeeap. Cheap dark carpet in some units, dark wood paneling, chipboard shelves and counters. Don't get a large frozen pizza, because it won't fit in the oven.
That's pretty much it. It's like living in a decent trailer park with the trailers stuck together. Not much traffic, generally quiet neighborhood, but definitely a low-income area. Could be much worse.
