Cockroaches in multiple apartments in complex, including mine
COCKROACHES! This complex has a serious problem with cockroaches which they cannot get rid of and live in the walls. I had an infestation when I lived here from 2018 to 2019, as did other residents throughout the complex.
I have never lived in a building before that had cockroaches until I moved here. When I first moved in, I noticed a dead one upside down on the outdoor railing in front of my unit, but wasn't sure what it was since I had never lived in a place that had them. I soon learned... to recognize them. A few months later, I saw one crawling down the wall from the a/c vent in my bedroom, but thought it was a fluke. Then I saw one at night in my unit by the entrance door a month later, and started turning on the light at night I saw them almost every single night in my kitchen thereafter. I also found one living inside the door of my dishwasher that crawled out of the hole after I had run a load. Another resident in the opposite side of the complex had an infestation of cockroaches as well. This was a problem in the ENTIRE complex. I also saw baby cockroaches at night by my dishwasher, and near my oven and under my fridge. I also found a huge one in my car.
When I asked to have them exterminated, they told me I had to wait 1 week since the exterminator comes only once a week and I had missed him by a day. They were not accommodating whatsoever and expected me to wait an entire week and live there, despite the fact that cockroaches are vectors for disease. They refused to fumigate and were not surprised at all when I told them I had cockroaches. They also told me that the exterminator would have to come multiple times in order to treat, and I would have to remove everything from my kitchen and bathroom cupboards and cabinets and would have to clean the spray residue of the pesticide with a rag. Every 2 weeks, the exterminator would have to come again for multiple treatments, and this would go on for 1 to 2 months and I would have to pick up dead cockroaches daily. Luckily, this was near the end of my lease. Living here with cockroaches was a NIGHTMARE. I lived here a year.
I had to buy plastic bins to move out in, so I would not transport any cockroaches. I spent over $200 in plastic bins, had to throw away all the cardboard boxes I owned, paper items, pantry items, my $50 toaster oven, and kitchen trashcan. A real nightmare that was v costly and for which they refused to reimburse me anything. BEWARE!!
