Inspections R US

Notes on my stay at the Ridge Apartments. While it was no horror story there it was not a joyful place either.

If the thought of being visited at least three times a year with an apartment inspection does not bother you then the Ridge may be your place. These inspections come in January, February, and in the Summer. Why the first two cannot be combined into a single inspection escapes me. I feel it is an excuse to enter our place of living to nose about. They will go as far as to inspect the...
refrigerator including the door seals for dirt, mold, and your general cleaning habits. The same holds true for your bathrooms including the toilet. The balcony is nearly worthless as you are allowed not much more than about two chairs and then NEVER use it for storage. I was told to remove a new plastic cabinet that helped keep things tidy because it was seen as an “eye sore.” Really? ALSO, No BBQing! We all can understand the risk of fire so this rule is reasonable. But then if a community environment is the goal, place and/or allow BBQ pits in the open areas. That is as reasonable as the rule excluding them from balconies. While the rules are meant to keep the “community” neat and attractive, it means your lifestyle may be amended and/or disrupted.

Then the fourth (“inspection”), oh yes, they make an excuse to enter your apartment a fourth time to inspect the fire alarm. Is it too much to handle that these things are conducted in a single inspection? Apparently. Make it clear to yourself that in a decision to reside here you have few rights and your privacy will be invaded on a regular basis.

General notes:
1. Kids may not ride their bicycles on the property.
2. There is limited space for kids to play.
3. The walk ways in and around the apartments are not swept-ever. (ONLY first floor by the landscape crew via blower.)
4. Due to the way/method the pool is cleaned it is closed one day a week. The pool has limited access in the Summer & closed 7 months of the year.

The Ridge is neat and attractive but at the cost of a free(er) life. If you are a transient resident and can live with these rules for that short time then good for you. If on the other hand you wish to live with more freedom for a longer term, as I did, then another place to reside is your answer.

Easy Living

Living in The Ridge apartments is really great. The buildings themselves are fairly new and the grounds are kept neat and nice. The people who help run the vicinity are very helpful and know what they are doing. The location is spectacular as well. Walking distance from Trader Joe's makes getting groceries a breeze. The complex itself is fairly quiet but still with tenants who are friendly and give welcoming smiles and waves when you see them. The complex is pet friendly as well which is a... definite plus. It also contains a playground and swimming pool to cool off at during those hot Sacramento summer days. A huge bonus about The Ridge is that there is plenty of parking which is really nice as other complex's have limited parking making it frustrating. All in all The Ridge is defiantly a good apartment complex to live in. After living here for over two years I really have complaints whatsoever. Like the title says, The Ridge is 'Easy Living'.

Brand Spankin' New Apartment Complex!

I've been living here since the apartment complex first opened in just three years ago. I have to admit it's my favorite apartment complex I've lived in... partly because it's quite new. The building complex has ample parking (both covered and uncovered) so regardless of the time of day, there's a very good change you'll find parking near your home. The social community area is lively and green; it's nice to always see families having picnics. And though I've never used it, there's a community... garden as well. The area itself is very quiet usually all the time. One one side of the complex is a non-major street with model homes, another side has a out-patient hospital and on the other two sides are two empty fields! I couldn't be happier about that! The only reason why I give it 4 and not 5 stars is because the construction quality of my apartment (I can't speak on anyone else's apartment within the complex) could have been better. Very picky, I know. But the sub-floor in my kitchen is not level. In certain areas, when I step on the flooring, the laminate warps downwards because of my weight. Annoying, yes. A safety issue? Absolutely not. Aside from that, I'm a happy camper.
