Good for the price
CONS:
It’s the cheapest complex we found in Walnut Creek, and it definitely seems like it. Don’t get me wrong, it’s still in Walnut Creek, so the area is nice and quiet. However, it’s definitely time for some upgrades.
The windows are jalousie style and old, so it’s like they’re never really closed. Some we can’t even close all the way. This means it’s always loud in the apartment, really hot during summer (even with the AC on), and cold during the winter.
AC and heating unit are in the... living room, so it gets unbelievably hot/cold in the bedroom depending on what season it is. We have a fan in the bedroom and keep the windows open, but there’s just no airflow in there. The AC is also really loud.
Since we’re right on the trail (some trees touching our balcony), we do have a spider problem. We haven’t run into an ant problem in our unit, although there’s THOUSANDS outside near the parking spots. This isn’t necessarily the complex’s fault, but it’s something to be aware of.
When you move, they keep half of your security deposit regardless of how clean you keep the place. They are upfront about this in the beginning, but it just doesn’t really give you any incentive to leave the place clean.
There’s absolutely no parking. You get one space that comes with your unit, but street parking is scarce. There’s a parking lot down the street a little, but they actively tow there, so we find ourselves having to follow our friends/family down to the parking garages in downtown, just to drive them back to our place when they come to visit.
PROS:
Price. Again, it’s the cheapest place we found in Walnut Creek.
Location. We’re walking distance from downtown and right on Iron Horse Trail.
Size. For how much we’re paying, the place is a decent size.
The area is quiet and I haven’t run into any disturbances yet.
