Don't be Fooled
Bull Run Townhomes seems like a great deal, but don't be fooled. We applied and were told we qualified for low-income housing. We filled out paperwork in the office for almost 2 hours making sure (on our end) that we understood the paperwork and were filling it out correctly. I have a master's degree and I had a hard time figuring out how to properly fill out the paperwork! We had two employees helping us; a leasing agent and a manager. Both approved our paperwork, even though both my husband's... and my work situations were complicated. Both assured us we did everything correctly, multiple times.
Fast-forward a year; after dealing with almost daily notices on our door (many about "getting along with your neighbors", as if we are 5 years old), trains whistling at all hours, closing of the pool for half the summer, unreliable maintenance, and months of requests for financial and personal paperwork, our lease was not renewed because of "fraudulent documentation" at the initial lease signing. The same signing where we spent 2 hours with TWO employees, one a manager, making sure we were doing everything correctly.
On a phone call with the manager who helped us (now the regional manager) she treated me and the fair housing professional helping me as if I was 5 years old. She continually interrupted me, raised her voice to try and talk over me, and refused to hear anything I, or the fair housing professional, had to say. She was trying to be intimidating and make me seem stupid. I am not stupid or afraid of them, but the management seems to think I should be.
And when I called legal aid to see what they could do to help, they told me they receive multiple complaints every month from Bull Run!
Don't rent here. They do not follow the Colorado regulations, they don't treat you with respect, and they just want your money. And they expect you to lie down and take whatever they do, because low-income individuals have little recourse.
