The building is gorgeous and well maintained, the maintenance man Will is the nicest guy ever and the leasing lady Maria is genuine and helpful. The residents were clean, quiet and respectful and commuting to NYC via Metro-North was easy.

Still the apartment of my dreams!!
After one year of renting a one-bedroom unit at HSW, I am still ‘head-over-heels’ in love with this building & its upscale environment! My apartment is light-filled, with everything new, plus energy-efficient appliances, & wonderful urban view. This building maintains the luxurious charm of 1904, with mosaic floors in hallways plus windows designed to allow light inside the building (from an era before electric light). Sunlight reaches even into the heart of the building, with a massive central... skylight that leaves me (and guests) breathless each time we go between the elevator & apartment.
As far as staff goes: I say hello to William (the head maintenance man) each time we cross paths; he and the cleaning crew keep hallways, trash-rooms, the on-site laundry room, & common areas clean and beautiful.
Maria, in the leasing office, was phenomenally helpful in working with me at a challenging point in my life to find a unit that suited me. She was sensitive to my needs and (after a thorough background check) worked with me to find a unit that has become a haven; HSW provides a safe, gorgeous, quiet environment, where I can recuperate after stressful days. The building is so well-built that it’s as quiet as a monastery. It feels like you are in a private home, without extraneous noise.
Whenever I interact with other tenants, the people are almost ubiquitously cordial and friendly!! I can’t count the number of times people have held the elevator door for me simply because they have seen me in the lobby checking my mailbox, or said “have a good night” when I get off the elevator. HSW has a wonderful collection of professional, personable tenants; everyone is respectful of everyone else.
Other amenities include a locking mail closet for large packages; this was a response of the management, started about a year ago, after some packages went missing and the person responsible (not a tenant) was caught on security cameras: I lost one package, but HSW management was extremely active in prosecuting the perpetrator, & responded to the problem almost immediately by created a locking mail closet and submitting surveillance footage to police. That one missing package is the only negative incident I have encountered; the management’s response was fast-enough that I haven’t lost packages since then.
Overall, HSW provides a living space that is gracious, modern, filled with positive energy, & has staff that’s alert and responsive. For me, it’s been perfect.

Apartments
This is the worst company to rent from, theirs been theft of tenant packages, cars burglarized, some tenants are very confrontational about anything at all. Their seems to be no back ground checks, and theirs no one ever available from the company to speak to if theirs ever a problem. The super does not reside in the building so issues are not resolved promptly at all. The quality of tenants have gone from great when they first opened the building for tenants to rent to super poor till this day.... They seem to be taking anyone now adays just to rent the apartments. This is hands down the worst company to rent an apartment from. Yes the apartments are beautiful but weighing in with everything I just mentioned is not worth the trade. The worst thing someone can do is sign the lease for a year cus then your stuck no matter how your neighbors are or any problem you may have. So Beware I speak from years of experience.
