Be prepared to freeze in the winter
I have lived in this building several times over the years, when not living in other states. It has always felt like my DC home. It is in a great neighborhood, the apartments are spacious, the staff is great. One issue has arisen this winter, though, that is causing me to think about moving out. Each apartment has one or more HVAC units that are big and ugly and take up space in the bedrooms and living room, but they let you determine the temperature in your apartment. All the heat, though,... comes from a central furnace, so you can have your HVAC unit switched on, but if the furnace isn't blowing heat, then your HVAC unit can't blow heat either. This 2024 - 2025 winter, management has repeatedly kept the furnaces off when it is freezing outside, so you freeze in your apartment, as well. It has been 29 degrees outside with no heat on inside. As I write this, it is 45 degrees out, and there is no heat. This once great building now feels like living in the slums. I would not recommend living here unless management addresses the heat issue. (Isn't there a law that requires residential apartment buildings to maintain heat at a certain level?)
