Apt good, administration of the building BAD

Apartment is good, however lacks of security. At the beginning there were people receiving the packages and checking the door. Now, there is no one there. I like the apartment but the administration is bad.

Hello! Thank you for sharing your experience at Latrobe. We appreciate the feedback you have provided. We still have a courtesy officer that works at night in the building. Our building is controlled access with an intercom in place. All visitors... would need to know the code to dial or call the office. We would like to address your experience at Latrobe more directly but we unfortunately cannot find you in our system without a name. Please feel free to reach out to me at ICanHelp@aircommunities.com so we can discuss further. -Susan

Good Apartment but Lacking in Security

The apartment was good and Shara was always very helpful to work with. However, myself and several other tenants had bikes stolen from the garage and the cameras were not able to capture anything as they were pointed at the ceiling in the garage. Also, the front doors were usually open all day while I lived there and the back doors were sometimes propped open allowing anyone to come in. Hopefully they can work to make the apartment a little more secure.

Untrustworthy and unacceptable

My experience with the Latrobe and its management, AIMCO, was horrible. They are untrustworthy and do not treat tenants with respect. I will never again consider living in the Latrobe or any AIMCO-managed building, and I strongly urge anyone who is considering renting at the Latrobe: DO NOT RENT HERE. In short, I signed a lease, paid a deposit nearly 2 months in advance, paid first month’s rent, and then 2 days before the start of my lease, when I called to ask about move-in time, was told my... apartment was no longer available.

I toured the building and applied for a 1-bedroom in early July for a unit that would be available on Sep. 1. I e-signed the agreement, and paid the $500 “holding fee” and received a “welcome” email, as well as a confirmation email with all of my “lease details”.

On Aug. 30, 2 days before the start of my lease, I called to ask what time I could pick up my key and to work out the move-in details. I had movers and furniture on the way to Washington. It was at this point that I was first told by the Latrobe that the previous tenants had just re-signed their lease, and that the apartment was no longer available for me. This was 2 DAYS BEFORE MY MOVE IN and the Latrobe DID NOT EVEN CALL ME TO TELL ME. This was also despite the fact that I had already SIGNED THE LEASE, had PAID THE “HOLDING FEE” and had PAID THE FIRST MONTH’S RENT. (A Latrobe rep later claimed they tried to contact me the day before to tell me the apartment was no longer available; I have triple checked my phone and email records and have no record of any contact).

It is unacceptable to ignore a signed lease agreement, allow the existing tenants to re-sign the lease 2 days before the lease expires and NOT TELL THE NEW TENANT.

To summarize, my experience with the Latrobe was terrible from start to finish. The Latrobe and its parent organization, AIMCO, were rude and disrespectful and, based on my dealings with them, are not trustworthy. My advice to anyone considering renting at the Latrobe or another AIMCO-managed building: don’t do it. If I could give this place zero stars, I would.

Hello, I'm terribly sorry about this. The original renters did indeed elect to extend their lease and therefore the unit was taken off the market. However, you did not sign a lease with us (only an application) and Tahrima did reach out to you and... left a voicemail and send an email. I am again very sorry about this mix up, but we do have many options available if you're ever considering an apartment at Latrobe again. Have a great day! -George
