Back of property neglected majorly
I am almost one month shy of being at this property for a year. I am transferring to a different MAA property in another state.
I live in a building in the back of the property which has been neglected the entire time. Not one time has anyone leaf blown or cleaned the interior corridor or steps of the building. For a few months, the steps were closed off with yellow caution, tape due to being unsafe. After fire and safety were here the caution tape went away, but the steps have yet to be... fixed and are obviously unsafe and decline.
Nothing on the inside of my apartment has ever been level. The doors to my Laundry are slightly crooked, and I was told at move-in that the frame the doors are in slightly bent, so they cannot straighten the doors. My dishwasher has never been level, causing the bottom to stick out further than the top and me to having to shut the dishwasher with a bit of force to get past the underneath of the countertop. The stove is unlevel and not even with the countertop, which makes difficult cleaning at times, and the refrigerator is also slightly uneven, causing you to have to walk by the fridge frequently and push on the doors to make sure they’re shut. The kitchen floor had several cracked tiles upon move-in, a broken blind, and The bedroom closet shelving was not attached to the wall. When I moved in and brought this to the apartment, attention maintenance, was very kind and fix the shelving and replace the blind, however, nothing else was ever fixed. When I moved in the weatherstripping at the bottom of my front door had clearly been messed up by perhaps a small dog, That also was never fixed. Haven’t said all that, I never once paid rent late and I was one of the few that picked up after my dog outside. My apartment is always clean and smoke free.
I was appalled to find out that being so close to a year at this property and these bad conditions, I am made to pay back a $500 concession that was a special of $500 off my first month rent. This is not required but the managers discretion. Neglect buildings but charge people more.
Eventually, living at this property, one stops bringing issues with the apartment or building to the attention of management, because only the front of the property is priority. Once people are residents, It becomes pointless to expect the property to be maintained to standard.
