Not an apartment - a home!
I only lived here for a year, but this is genuinely the best apartment complex I've ever lived at. It felt more like a home than an apartment, and the only reason I left was because of a job promotion that took me 90 miles away.
Where do I start? First off, there's absolutely a difference in a place like this that's got a single owner as opposed to these other places owned by Realty companies, etc. Every single day I saw the maintenance crew working on something to maintain the property. Any... time I had a maintenance issue, it was resolved within a day.
The neighborhood is SO quiet. I never had issues with loud neighbors. This is a nice little secluded section that's very close to the freeway, but you wouldn't know it walking around.
The layout is great - I was in a one bedroom, and the way the apartment is broken up helps to make it feel more like a small home/flat. Having the kitchen separate from the living room unlike most apartments was a big deal for me.
Some realities of the area:
- RB is near a canyon, so there will be bugs around during Summer. However, this is nothing I couldn't fix with a small bug light! Also, I NEVER saw a single cockroach. For me, roaches are non-negotiable.
- There is an elementary school right next to the complex, which is great if your kid goes there, but kind of annoying if you're trying to get to work. If you plan for it, it's no big deal.
- This is a GREAT area for night walks, VERY safe. However, not a ton within walking distance. You do have a great Starbucks within walking distance, as well as a CVS, Marco's Pizza, and some other good things. Outside of that, you'll need a bike or car.
The office staff is great - Caryn was amazing the entire process of me moving in to me moving out. I really, really miss this place, but at least I know where to go if I end up in San Diego again. Do yourself a favor and check out this hidden gem - you get every pennies worth out of it!
