Starter apartment
I rented a studio apartment here when I was fresh out of college in 1979. I chose it because it was what I could afford, was on a major bus line, was easy walking distance to a supermarket, and a longer walk to another supermarket.
There is no longer any supermarket within reasonable walking distance, but the buses still go up and down Farmington Avenue.
I had no car at the time, so I have no idea what the parking situation was like back then, nor what it is now.
I had no idea there were... actually 3 one-bedroom apartments in the building. I remember three floors, each with a long hallway and five apartments on each side of the hall.
The studio is a roughly square unit, a quarter of which is taken up by the bathroom. I put a sofa bed on the hallway wall and when it was open, I could crawl to the end of the bed and open the refrigerator. The kitchenette is small; not much counter space left after you put a range, a fridge, and a sink. There's a small linen closet directly outside the bathroom, and a closet with sliding doors takes up the rest of that wall.
