Disappointing and Not Secure
My roommate and I were excited to find a place that had most of the things we were looking for: pet friendly, in-unit laundry machines.
We were told after we moved in that some floor work needed to be done in our apartment instead of asking us to wait a week which would have been better for us, our cat, and them. We held off on moving some of our bigger furniture at their request in the floors were complete which was inconvenient and frustrating that we were already paying for spaces we couldn't... use. On Tuesday of that week I had been told that the floor work was complete so we moved those items in. Then they called us again to say it's not actually done yet. The contractors came on Friday to do the work which took 7 hours (they left for 4 hours half way through). After complaining about this whole process to the property manager, Raquel, she offered my roommate and I a total of $60 for the inconvenience. I said that was insulting and came back with math showing our the affected square footage and the cost per square foot per day this had gone on. After doing their job for them, we got the fair amount.
Then we kept finding increasing numbers of carpenter bees in our apartment. We asked for pest control to come in and were told they would be there on Thursday, they never came. I called and asked about it and was told that the property manager wanted to come in to identify where they were coming in from. We offered for her to come in while one of us is home (for the safety of our cat) and she basically refused. Then never scheduled pest control for us again (which we are paying for!). So far, I got stung twice, and my roommate got stung once.
The most recent issue came up when I was harassed in the parking lot. After notifying the property manager twice about this, it took 3 days for her to respond saying that I have no right to expect safety on the property on which I live. It is not a gated community which means anyone and everyone can come in and onto the property but she immediately was defensive and accusatory like it was my fault or I was blaming her. I tried to explain that my intention in notifying them was to check if the vehicle belonged to a resident.
The exterior doors to the building are always broken and if they were ever repaired would break again the same day. They need to be replaced. The back door on our building doesn't even close all the way and the front door is able to be pulled open.
